The brother and sister team of Mark and Monica Phelan of Phelan Gardens Greenhouse and Nursery formed Earth Expressions in 2009. They sought to provide the level of professional service and information they felt their customers and community deserved. Phelan Gardens’ customers ask for referrals for gardeners, landscapers, arborists, irrigation professionals, and every other outdoor service you can imagine. When making a referral, they expect the service provider to take as good of care of their people as they themselves would. As the saying goes, “if you want it done right, do it yourself”, and Earth Expressions does it right.
At Earth Expressions, we embrace the limitations of our semi-arid Colorado Springs climate through implementation of “whole system design thinking”. Earth Expressions provides landscape design consultations, landscape construction, and landscape maintenance to the greater Colorado Springs area within 15 miles of our base, including Black Forest, Monument, Palmer Lake, Rockrimmon, Falcon, and Peyton. We specialize in xeriscape, especially sod and lawn conversion to xeric landscape. Soil building, in conjunction with mulching, is key to the success of our landscape installations. Pollinator gardens, edible gardens, privacy screens, and raised beds are common features in our landscape designs. Additionally, we construct pathways and can provide solutions for erosion control. Earth Expressions can also help design and construct systems for composting and rainwater harvesting.
